A well-traveled man who had explored the far corners of the world, he found his paradise in Magna Graecia (southern Italy), in the region of Grecia Salentina—specifically in the village of Martano—where he settled for good and devoted himself to his great love: nature and herbs.
When the joyful news first arrived from Greece about his first grandchild, he extracted essence from bitter orange peels and treated the entire village to the drink he made. With every new piece of happy news from his homeland, he added a new herb. Twelve times came joyful news of a new grandchild, and twelve were the herbs that Grandpa Thalis extracted to make this exceptional drink—or, as his fellow villagers now called it in their own language, ANGONI*.
Thank you so much, Grandpa.
