Chios mastic comes from the mastic trees cultivated in the 24 mastic-producing villages of southern Chios. Of all the places in the world, only there does the mastic tree “shed its mastic.” Due to the region’s unique microclimate, when the tree trunk is “incised” (cuts are made), it secretes natural resin (mastic), which solidifies after 15–20 days and is then harvested. “KOUKOUDO” is the name given to the medium-sized solidified mastic. KOUKOUDO mastic liqueur, made from 100% authentic Chios mastic with an unparalleled mild flavor and exquisite aromatic character, has won awards at international tasting competitions such as the International Wine and Spirit Competition, London Spirits, and the Olymp Awards. Enjoy KOUKOUDO chilled before or after a meal, as well as in cocktails.
